「インスタ映え」なんて言葉が闊歩する、今まで以上にヴィジュアル優位なこの世の中で、挑戦的な真っ白ジャケット。澄んだサウンドは、その無垢な色に相応しいものでした。
LILI LIMITについて
LILI LIMITは、山口・福岡出身の男女混合５人組バンドです。
どちらも私がかつて暮らしたことがある土地なので、どこか親近感を感じてしまいます。
編成はボーカル・ギター・ベース・ドラム・キーボードと、オーソドックスなもの。
バンドサウンドに加えてサンプリングも多用することで、奥行きの深い音を組み立てています。
アルバム『Etudes』について
そんな彼らの1stミニアルバムがこのEtudes。曲間の繋ぎ目がなく、最初から最後までシームレスに流れていきます。バンド側からの「この流れで聴きなさい」という明確なメッセージがバシバシ伝わってきます。
上のPV曲「at good mountain」ような明るいポップから、「Tokyo City Club」のような暗めのダンサブルな曲までかなり変化に富んでいます。しかし、牧野純平(Vo.)の声質やギター・キーボードの音作りのおかげで、全体的に澄んだ印象を与え爽やかに通り過ぎていきます。こんな声に生まれたかった！
歌詞は日常を切り取った風景画みたいなものが多いです。どこか純朴な、いい意味で田舎者の匂いがします。似たようなところに暮らしていたので、勝手にシンパシーを感じているだけかもしれませんが。
以下はGirls Like Chagallのライブ映像。アルバムと遜色ない演奏力。少しベースがゴリッとしているのもよい。
男女比やその楽器担当から思い起こされるのが、サカナクション。思い起こされるというより、そこは全くもって同じ。
ただ、サカナクションは「バンドサウンドも入ってるエレクトロニカ」って感じなのに対し、LILI LIMITは「エレクトロニカ要素も取り入れたバンドサウンド」といった方がしっくりくる。あくまで、バンドの音を補強するために、打ち込みを取り入れているような気がします。
まとめ
なにかCMとタイアップしたら、一気にブレイクしそうな予感がします。最近出たLAST SUPPERもとっても良かったので、そちらもレビュー書こうと思います。
いま一番オススメしたいバンドです。
